Selkie Shaving Soap...

Selkie... those mythical creatures of Irish, Scots, and British lore. Seals that slip their skin and walk upon the land in human form.

"As soon as the seal was clear of the water,
It reared up and its skin slipped down to the sand."
~ George Mackay Brown, from "Pictures In The Cave"

What is the scent of a Selkie? Well, to me, it must be one of mist and mystery, sea and sand, earth and sky - So I've brought together a beautiful bouquet of violet, lotus, rose, & waterlily, grounded it with a base of soft white musk, and finished it off with the clean scent of a rain-laden sky. Completely unisex, a bit on the sweet side, heady, and very fragrant.

I started this soap with a PREMIUM soap base that contains 5% unrefined hemp seed oil, and have added my own special blend of liquid silk and clay for a wonderful slip, as well as a generous addition of Sweet Almond oil for its skin-loving properties. The slip from the silk and clay make this an excellent shaving soap, and the Sweet Almond oil adds extra moisture. Absolutely no skin-stripping surfactants or detergents! Just loads of skin-loving ingredients that provide a lovely, creamy lather that will leave your skin soft, supple, and gently fragranced.

  2. What a great coincidence, the Selkie was inspirational in the start up of our UK hand made bath and body product company.
